Bruce Lee

mY VERY FEW hEROES

-BRUCE LEE-

i SHARE WITH YOU HIS pHILOSOPHY OF LIFE !!!

Philosophy

Lee is best known as a martial artist, but he also studied drama and philosophy while a student at the University of Washington. He was well-read and had an extensive library. His own books on martial arts and fighting philosophy are known for their philosophical assertions, both inside and outside of martial arts circles. His eclectic philosophy often mirrored his fighting beliefs, though he was quick to claim that his martial arts were solely a metaphor for such teachings. He believed that any knowledge ultimately led to self-knowledge, and said that his chosen method of self-expression was martial arts. His influences include Taoism, Jiddu Krishnamurti, and Buddhism. On the other hand, Lee's philosophy was very much in opposition to the conservative world view advocated by Confucianism. John Little states that Lee was an atheist. When asked in 1972 about his religious affiliation, he replied, "none whatsoever". In 1972, he was asked if he believed in God, and responded, "To be perfectly frank, I really do not"

The following QUOTATIONS reflect his fighting philosophy.
  • "Be formless... shapeless, like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You pour water into a bottle; it becomes the bottle. You put water into a teapot; it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow, or creep or drip or crash! Be water, my friend...""I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once. But I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times."
  • "All types of knowledge, ultimately leads to self knowledge."
  • "Use only that which works, and take it from any place you can find it"
  • "Do not deny the classical approach, simply as a reaction, or you will have created another pattern and trapped yourself there".
  • "Quick temper will make a fool of you soon enough".
  • "I always learn something, and that is: to always be yourself. And to express yourself, to have faith in yourself. Do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate him".
  • "It's not the daily increase but daily decrease. Hack away at the unessential."

Massive hemoptysis...criterias

I m hereby posting few refrences for saying ..it's a massive hemoptysis.
Have  a look -

Oxford and harrison says   100-600 ml /24 hrs

Golwala and Washington mannual   >600 ml /24 hrs

Our Algappam says   >500 ml /day
                                  >150 ml/hr
                                  >300 ml for 3 days or more

As per Murray and Nadel-200-600ml/day

As per fishman : any amount which is lifethreatening and require immediate evaluation and treatment is massive hemoptysis.

so keep updating and keep blogging.

Thanx .

Assesment of respiratory muscle strength

1 Maximum static inspiratory and expiratory mouth pressures are the most commonly performed tests of respiratory muscle strength.
2Transdiaphragmatic pressure----Calculated by subtracting endoesophageal pressure from gastric pressure.
3Phrenic nerve stimulation test----Most commonly employed technique ofelectrophrenic stimulation employs a frequency of one pulse per second to measure transdiaphragmatic contraction during
4 Analysis of rib cage and abdomen for paradoxical inward motion.
5Spirometry----A decrease in vital capacity greater than 25 percent on moving from upright to supine posture is a sign of diaphragmatic weakness.
6ABG---Paco2 increases when respiratory muscle strength is less than 50 percent of the predicted value.
7MVV is an index of respiratory muscle strength in presence of normal expiratory flow ratesn

CONGRATULATIONS SAHIB !!!

Saturday, April 7, 2012

Hi

Hi,
This is Nasir Assar from Srinagar, Kashmir. I graduated from SKIMS and I am currently pursuing DNB in respiratory medicine at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai.

Muscles of respiration

Muscles of respiration: (ref : snells anatomy, tsr )
Diaphragm is the primary muscle for respiration
Inspiration: Diaphragm ,external intercostals
Expiration : Internal intercoastal muscles, abdominal muscles
Secondary muscles of inspiration-
1) sternocleidomastoideus
2) scalenes
3) pectoralis major
4) pectoralis minor
5) serratus anterior ,serratus posterior ,superior
7)upper iliocostalis
8 ) upper trapezius
9) l atissimus dorsi
10)erector spinae muscles of the back.

Secondary muscles of expiration
11) external oblique
12) internal oblique
13) rectus abdominus
14) lower iliocostalis
15) lower longissimus
16) serratus posterior inferior

krogh constant.

kroghs constant--
The single breath method for measuring CO uptake by the lung, which is used world-wide, was introduced by Krogh in 1915.This measurement was termed diffusion constant Krogh's diffusion constant for CO2.KCO2 was determined in respiring muscle tissue at various levels of tissue PCO2.
The carbon monoxide transfer factor (DL,CO) is the product of the two primary measurements during breath-holding, the CO transfer coefficient (KCO) and the alveolar volume (VA). KCO is essentially the rate constant for alveolar CO uptake (Krogh's kCO), and in healthy subjects, increases when VA is reduced by submaximal inflation, or when pulmonary blood flow increases
Krogh constant= DL / VA
unit of DL CO/ VA IS mmol·min−1·kPa−1·L−1.

Hi all

Hi all,
